The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) was launched by the Government of India on 19 August 2016 to promote apprenticeship training and enhance industry participation in skill development. The scheme provides ITI pass-outs and other eligible candidates with opportunities to gain practical, on-the-job training in participating industries and establishments. Apprentices can apply their technical knowledge in real workplace environments while developing technical, professional, and workplace skills. The scheme also provides stipend support, as applicable under the prevailing guidelines, and helps improve employability and career prospects. Successful apprenticeship training can provide valuable industry experience and an Apprenticeship Certificate, as per applicable rules.

STIPEND:- The minimum stipend payable to apprentices is based on their educational and technical qualifications, as prescribed under the applicable apprenticeship guidelines. The minimum monthly stipend is as follows:
- School Pass-outs (Class 5th–9th): ₹5,000 per month
- School Pass-outs (Class 10th): ₹6,000 per month
- School Pass-outs (Class 12th): ₹7,000 per month
- National or State Certificate Holder: ₹7,000 per month
- Technician (Vocational) Apprentice / Vocational Certificate Holder / Sandwich Course Student from Diploma Institutions: ₹7,000 per month
- Technician Apprentice / Diploma Holder in Any Stream / Sandwich Course Student from Degree Institutions: ₹8,000 per month
- Graduate Apprentice / Degree Apprentice / Degree Holder in Any Stream: ₹9,000 per month
